With the plague of the 17th century brewing and a government ban that closed theatrical spaces, a new art form was found: Closet Drama - plays intended to be read, not to be performed. PrideArts is excited to bring you a modern spin on this art form, streamed live from the Buena Theater. CLOSET PLAY is an in-depth look into the poetry of two of America's most prolific queer voices - JAMES BALDWIN and TENNESSEE WILLIAMS, intertwined with original jazz music. Featuring a cast of some of Chicago's most treasured artists. This event was conceived and will be directed by PrideArts Artistic Director Donterrio Johnson.

Charlie has lost his job, his girlfriend and countless hours of sleep. Worse still, he's being haunted by a fox. Set in London after the 2008 financial crash, British playwright Titas Halder's play takes us on the rollercoaster of one man's obsession. Directed by ensemble member Elly Green and featuring Gage Wallace, Run The Beast Down is a thrilling experiment in intimate storytelling. Following the production, Strawdog will make a donation to Lakeview Pantry, an organization that works to overcome hunger, improve mental wellness, and achieve life goals.

45 Plays for America's First Ladies is a companion piece to the past Neo-Futurist production 43 Plays for 43 Presidents [originally produced in 2004, and remounted in 2012 as 44 Plays for 44 Presidents and re-published as 45 Plays for 45 Presidents in 2019]. Focusing this time on the women who served in the role of First Lady, this play follows an identical format as its predecessor, with a chronological series of 1-5 minute plays that - in typical Neo style - adopt a variety of shapes, tones, and theatrical conventions.

This Wells is a 21st century science journalist thrust into the events of an alien invasion after a meteor from the "Red Planet" Mars crashes 70 miles outside Chicago at the start of the new decade. Separated from family, friends, and everything they have ever known, the eclectic cast of Chicagoland characters must do everything in their power to survive as our world comes crashing down around them. As the Martians reveal their deadly Heat-Ray and their true intentions, whirling our characters into hair-raising chases across Chicago, one question remains: is life on Earth doomed?

Disillusioned Jessie Cates, a woman suffering from epilepsy and depression, announces to her mother Thelma, that she will be killing herself at the end of the evening. The ensuing evening is what playwright Marsha Norman describes as, "a fight for their lives" as Thelma begs, bargains, and beseeches her uncompromising daughter to change her plan. 'NIGHT, MOTHER unsparingly explores the impact of mental health on mothers and daughters in our society. This production will be an entirely virtual streamed performance.

The incredible cast recreates the entire town of Bedford Falls with Foley sound effects, an original score and holiday carols. The Bedford Falls "residents" extend their hospitality after every performance when audiences are treated to milk and cookies served by the cast.

Ever the perfectionist, she demands the same of those she works with including her daughter Christina. Joan's outlandish behavior even tests her loyal maid and secretary, Carol Ann (Ed Jones). After cancelling rehearsal and demanding the cast and crew work on Christmas Day, Joan is visited by three spirits (besides Smirnoff), and is forced to face herself! Christmas Dearest originally premiered in 2013 and turned into a Handbag favorite for those who prefer a little more in their stocking for the holidays.
