Prop Thtr Group was established in 1981 making it the oldest surviving off-loop, non-equity theater in Chicago. PROP THTR has produced over 80 productions in its history, over 40 of them being world premieres. The theater's focus is on original or newly adapted works taken from literature. PROP THTR has adapted the works of Algren, Hecht, Burroughs, Brecht, Bukowski, Bradbury, Dick, Nin, Nabokov, Dostoyevsky and Salinger to name a few.
