The Tragedy of Amleth, Princess of Denmark at Dream Theatre

"...Feeling distant from her childhood lover Ophelia (played with sweetness and unexpected resolve by Megan Merrill), Amleth grapples with isolation and anger, in addition to a sense of duty to avenge her father's death. And the royal household proves to be treacherous terrain for the immature and confused. From an amusement park to a rat-infested nunnery, Amleth's journey is an engrossing and cautionary tale; the Bard would be proud."

Centerstage - Somewhat Recommended

"...It’s hard to make a worthwhile show based off of “Hamlet.” Any piece using the play either creates a commentary or it or uses Hamlet as a jumping off point to explore other issues (or if you’re Tom Stoppard, both). The Dream Theatre’s “Amleth: Princess of Denmark” tries to fall into the latter camp but is unable to wring any real insight from its flipping of Hamlet’s gender. It’s like the show emerged from a long game of “Telephone.” Hamlet went in one end, something poorly re-worded and slightly re-plotted came out the other."
