The Absolute Best Friggin' Time of Your Life Reviews

"...It's hard to think of another revue with such a legitimately theatrical fabric — this is one of those rare Second City revues that could play anywhere. This show, populated by a Second City cast that can actually sing, has some major musical numbers, including a hilarious all-girl tribute to being “Rubenesque.” But the reason the show works so well is that Case and Bungeroth create a sense of comedic chaos that constantly propels the show forward. “The Absolute Best Friggin' Time of Your Life” is the best e.t.c. revue since “Holy War, Batman” (and that was 2001) because it consistently manages that quality so elusive in the world of sketch-comedy: high stakes."

"...Think of Second City e.t.c.’s new revue, “The Absolutely Best Friggin’ Time of Your Life,” as something of the frat boy’s edition of sketch comedy."

"...The show ends, fittingly, with a song. The cast and Bungeroth have plunged into the past only to reach the conclusion that it's the present that matters. Maybe that's the case. Years from now the elements and people that created The Absolute Best Friggin' Time of Your Life may be forgotten. But at this moment, they're coming in loud and clear."

"...It is easy to see why The Absolute Best Friggin’ Time of Your Life is still filling houses after eight months. The show is damn funny, and it has built its foundation out of something more substantial than the sensationalistic headlines of yesterday’s paper."

"...Absolute Best Friggin' Time of Your Life is almost two hours of non-stop laughter that takes us into our wildest dreams of the student with their teacher romance, all the way to our Senior Prom, the way we would have wanted it to be instead of what really took place. There are several great sketches and some that are just passable, but humor is in the eye of the beholder and we all have different funny bone stimulators, so we get to laugh at what we find funny. It doesn't matter what those around you laugh at, you must just allow yourself to laugh at what you find funny. If you allow yourselves to relax and just enjoy what you see, I think you will find yourself laughing for over an hour and a half of this of this 100 minute show. Ten minutes of non-laughter is time enough for you to order a second drink and then back to the fun!"

"...Very little effort has gone into making this comedy politically balanced — the few digs at Dems are far outweighed by the arrows aimed at the increasingly easy targets of the right wing. I’m not sure this show would play so well in outside a liberal stronghold, but the Chicago audience ate it up."
