Vanishing Points Reviews
Vanishing Points

"...Dan Foss's staging for Point of Contention gets a bit overwrought, as do Jones's metaphors. But Stacie Hauenstein delivers a credible portrait of anguish and middle-child identity crisis as Beth, and there are strong supporting performances from Morgan Manasa as her steady older sis and Victoria Bucknell as a hyperactive California scam artist."

"...This is a talented company that has proven itself in the past with remarkable work but this time out the production lacks the overall directorial vision that could have brought some semblance of focus and truth to the poorly told story. The efforts are sincere but the script’s title describes the end result as the points to this play quickly vanish."

"...The play’s best moments are those that celebrate the lifeline of human interactions. The weight of Beth’s sudden rootlessness is most striking when she shares the stage with her living sister Fran (the wonderfully natural Morgan Manasa). These genuinely moving interludes ensure that the histrionic tendencies of the dead don’t overpower the survival instincts of the living."

"...Vanishing Points is a challenging piece because it is an introspective character piece, with minimal dramatic action. Such apiece requires top-notch actors, and this ensemble is not up to the challenge. The one exception is Stacie Hauenstein who gave a subtle, yet engaging performance as Beth. Hauenstein created a character I wanted to succeed, and felt her pain in optimal moments."
