"...Trouble is, Menekseoglu never explains these cryptic gestures. The result is an odd, metatheatrical coyness: the production tells you just enough to let you know there's a secret you can't solve. On the plus side, you don't absolutely have to solve it. Presented in the manner of a silent movie, complete with dialogue cards, Menekseoglu's tale of a sweet girl caught in appallingly grim--even, as the play progresses, Holocaust-like--circumstances is compelling for its own sake."
