Bulrusher

Beacon Street Hull House
4520 N. Beacon St Chicago

Eisa Davis' Bulrusher challenges our assumptions of race, sexuality, and love. Reminiscent of Moses, Bulrusher is a clairvoyant orphan girl found as an infant in a basket floating on a river. Raised by strangers, she finds liberation from the world she knows when she meets a young black woman traveling from Alabama. Immersed in her new-found relationship, Bulrusher learns about love and begins a new journey of self-discovery.
