"...The charming young cast compensates for the script's structural flaws, making the show a very pleasant bit of entertainment. It's also deeply refreshing to see a far-out space opera that is (mostly) non-militaristic. Instead of having laser sword battles or blowing up alien races, the kids in this show are just having a party (despite some tacked on jeopardy), and it is fun to imagine the children of the future doing just that."

"...It’s kind of like hearing a favorite song at a party and bolting from the middle of a conversation to shake it on the dance floor. But that’s exactly what the energetic and committed Lights Out ensemble does to keep this comic romp afloat: pound out some floor-shaking boogie (slyly choreographed by Anna Lucero). Despite the play’s obvious strain for deeper meaning, moments like the cast’s tour de force “Rock Lobster” dance number make us wish this party would last longer and end stronger."

"...The script also becomes party victim to “too much” or “not enough.” Although there are multiple storylines to follow, the content is light and frothy. The plotlines are basic and predictable. The rave is definitely the boogie. Life is a collection of celebrations. Every festivity doesn’t have to be legendary. Treat Songs for a Future Generation like the eye candy at a party, he’s pretty to look at but a strong connection isn’t necessarily present. It’s a fun hour without any emotional or intellectual commitment. Sometimes, it is just about dancing!"
