"...Despite the huge debt both script and staging owe to the infinitely sharper BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous--whose dames might as well have been trash-talking transvestites--the volatile mix of nasty put-downs and sudden sentimentality (a bag lady becomes an instant earth mother) cancels itself out. No stereotype is left unexploited as the predictable plot tries too hard to please and not hard enough to surprise."
