Set against the steamy backdrop of New Orleans' French Quarter, A Streetcar Named Desire tells the story of Blanche DuBois, a faded Southern belle driven to madness by fate and her brutish brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski. Ann Keen (Director of Polarity's critically-acclaimed Hamlet) has assembled a cast chock full of Polarity ensemble members in a production that, in the Polarity tradition, breaks the play down to its gritty essentials, and rebuilds it with unique elements, such as a live violin playing counterpoint to Blanche's emotional journey.
