"...This situation could be enough on which to base a full-length play, but not in the hands of Peter Mercurio, whose script keeps the stakes low and the characters static. He tries to gussy things up a little with Steve's fantasies of a polyamorous future, and incorporates the City of Brotherly Love's history, but these efforts remain halfhearted and tangential. Patrick Walsh's genial production seems designed to get through it all with minimum damage."

"...Mercurio pads his protagonists’ philandering road to the altar with too many bizarre diversions. Worst of all, Steve and Larry’s dilemma about opening up their relationship is complicated by the presence of their adopted son. For one thing, their fatherhood skews the debate considerably; moreover, Mercurio has no idea how to write realistic dialogue for a 3-year-old kid. (The fact that the boy appears as his future adult in one sequence does not absolve Mercurio of making him sound, at other times, like a drunken frat boy or a fifth-grade history student.)"

"...The sound of screeching brakes signals trouble for the pair, their paramour gives them a dramatized blog review, and their three-year-old son (Evan Absher) occasionally offers his commentary. (Note: Absher is fully grown, though he plays a toddler gamely enough.) Grubb and Bishop lend the troubled couple a sweet sanity. It’s nice that they work out their problems in the end, but it’s also not much of a surprise."
