"...The Promethean Theatre Ensemble bravely attempts to resuscitate a work whose 87-year-old "revolutionary" ideas now seem somewhat shopworn. Director Joe Feliciano's decision to dress the actors in 60s style, while the characters inhabit some vague earlier period, enhances the distance between "real" life and the theater. He also makes the climactic events ludicrously melodramatic--but a wordless coda in which the actors stare mournfully at the director gives those events a sense of tragedy. Interesting, but not a ringing success."

Director Feliciano keeps the show at a steady clip yet misses crucial opportunities for humor and depth, while designer Caitlin McCown has crafted a basic, gardenlike set. The performances range from flat to inspired: Saddled with a Herculean portion of the exposition, McCabe succeeds in capturing his character’s weary tragedy, but Zlatanovski’s Stepdaughter seems performative and insincere."
