The Who's Tommy Extends at Goodman Theatre
In response to an overwhelming demand for tickets, Goodman Theatre in Chicago has announced an extension of its summertime blockbuster musical, The Who's Tommy, by adding eight more performances. Chicagoans will be the first to witness this breathtaking production starting from Tuesday, June 13. This revival of the legendary musical has been creatively re-envisioned by the original dynamic duo who won Tony Awards for the show, Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff, marking a return of the musical sensation that took Broadway by storm 30 years ago.
Adding an immersive element to the musical, a temporary pinball arcade is accompanying The Who's Tommy's run at the Goodman Theatre. Audience members will have the thrilling opportunity to play on a genuine Tommy pinball machine and attempt to earn the title of "The Pinball Wizard." The player who achieves the highest score by the end of the musical's run will be rewarded with a coveted Tommy Fender Stratocaster guitar, autographed by The Who's Pete Townshend! The arcade will welcome players 90 minutes before the show on most dates, will remain closed during the intermission, and will reopen for an additional 60 minutes after the show. Please note that participation is complimentary, but is restricted to one game per person. ABOUT THE WHO'S TOMMY
The 2023 rendition of The Who's Tommy fuses myth and grand spectacle, reviving The Who's iconic 1969 rock concept album, Tommy. It features unforgettable hit songs such as "I'm Free," "See Me, Feel Me," "Sensation," and "Pinball Wizard." The narrative follows the tumultuous journey of young Tommy Walker, who, after witnessing a tragic event involving his father, becomes entranced by his reflection in the mirror. His prodigious skill at pinball propels him from a withdrawn teenager to a renowned figure and ultimately, a beacon of hope for many.
