"...There must be some new spin to put on A Christmas Carol. But playwright Ekundayo Bandele's rendering of Scrooge as a black slumlord isn't it-the 1979 Broadway musical Comin' Uptown used the same twist. A tangle of missed cues plagued the opening night of this production from ETA Creative Arts, but with Halloween just gone, director Kemati J. Porter has a few months to iron out the kinks. Though the acting's uneven, Porter's cast sing well on the unaccompanied carols throughout the script."
