Writers' Theatre is seeking submissions to understudy for the characters Ilona Ritter and "Customers" in the musical She Love Me directed by Artistic Director Michael Halberstam.
Seeking females age 25-35 with a strong soprano voice and professional experience. Ilona is a tart, spirited, sarcastic and sexual being who always chooses the wrong men.
Often considered the "perfect" musical by aficionados, She Loves Me delights audiences and critics alike. Set in a 1930's European perfumery, we meet shop clerks Amalia and Georg, who more often than not, don’t see eye to eye. After both respond to a "lonely hearts advertisement" in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters they exchange, but the identity of their admirers remains unknown. Discover with Amalia and Georg the identity of their true loves and all the twists and turns along the way! Performed as an intimate chamber musical on the Tudor Court stage, She Loves Me appeals to all ages and is a romantic and charming musical adventure of the heart.
This is a last minute replacement so we are looking for an actress to begin as early as 9/9/10. There is some flexibility and the commitment could begin as late as 9/14/10. The show closes 11/21/10 with a possible extension as late as 12/5/10. Understudies check in remotely by phone each night before the performance. Understudy rehearsals take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the run. Understudies are also required to see the show twice a week. Eight show weeks Tuesday-Sunday.
