Griffin Theatre Company announces auditions for the Midwest premiere of the Blue Grass musical The Burnt Part Boys. Music: Chris Miller Lyrics: Nathan Tysen Book: Mariana Elder Directed by Jonathan Berry. All actors interested in being considered must have a strong singing voice and be able to hold their own part in tight harmonies.
We are looking for two high school aged boys to play 14. (Actor age range, 14 – 17). Pete is strong, imaginative and quiet while Dusty is a touch more socially awkward and tends to talk too much. We are looking for one high school aged girl to play 13 (Actor age range, 14 - 19 Frances is a scruffy tomboy who has, for the last year, lived on her own in the woods. We are looking for two young men to play 18. (Actor age range 20 - 26) both are athletic and confident. Jake is a bit more brooding, has an intensity and a sadness to him – while Chet is more easy going and less troubled, a bit more of a smart-ass. We are looking for 4 men to play between 18 and 40 (Actor age range 20 – 50) - these men play the miners, lost in the mining accident. One will play Pete and Jake's father.
Auditions will be held in June and July.
Rehearsal dates begin the week of September 10th. Previews begin 11/3, with an 11/12 opening. Show runs Thursday - Sunday through 12/23, with a possible extension through 01/06.
