Collaboraction
12th Annual Sketchbook Festival

Pay: No Pay

Description:

SKETCHBOOK is Collaboraction at its best: breaking down the walls that divide theater, music, visual art, video and the Internet. Selected a competitive submission process, SKETCHBOOK once again brings together the collective talents of directors, designers, actors, musicians and artists from Chicago and around the country for a jaw-dropping evening of creativity, experimentation and celebration. This year's festival changes the previous seven-minute recipe by integrating full-length, world-premiere productions, with shorter devised works. The 12th Annual SKETCHBOOK will showcase sixteen pieces total, in five different programs that will run in repertory from May - July 2012. Production timesrange from five to eighty minutes.

Time Commitment:

Tentative Production Schedule: Rehearsal Schedules will be determined once casting is complete by the director of each piece.

(Each piece will have individual opening and tech dates. In other words, you will not have to be available for the entire tech/dress rehearsal period or all show nights. Each piece will run at least 2x a week. Please be prepared to list your conflicts for mid-May through Mid-July on your audition sheet.)

First Rehearsal: Varies, Late April-Mid June
Tech: Mid May - Mid June
First Preview: Mid May - Mid June
Open: Mid May - Mid June
Close: July 15

**Performance schedule is Wed-Mon weekly.
Performance Location: Flat Iron Arts Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee

Material To Prepare:

Please prepare 60-90 seconds of text in combination with any special talent, interesting skill, or imaginative movement. (As long as it is tasteful and safe). Some examples of what we’ve seen before: dance, speaking in various languages, circus tricks, special skills, etc. As the festival consists only of devised work, we are trying to get a sense of your skills as a deviser, and your sense of play!
