Beowulf

Pay: No Pay

Description:

Arcas Productions exists to promote a healthy male body image through theatre and dance.

We are looking for men of all ages, shapes, and sizes for a movement theatre adaptation of Beowulf, to be performed at Studio BE in the Spring.

The show will be heavily ensemble-based, with three featured roles, culled from the ensemble: Beowulf (our hero), Grendel/Grendel's mother (our monsters, played by the same man), and Wiglaf (our narrator, a young man and a reluctant hero). Other roles include Hrothgar (the king), Unferth (an ill-tempered warrior), and old Beowulf (our hero after 50 years of ruling his people).

Auditions will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 3:30pm at ARCC Ballet, 2220 N Elston Ave, Chicago, IL

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals start March 5, twice a week in the evenings, adding Sundays in April and May, and the show runs for eight performances May 31 through June 10.

Material To Prepare:

Come prepared to move. You may be asked to read a short side at the audition, but there is no need to prepare a monologue.

Contact Info:

No appointment required, though it would be appreciated, especially if you plan on auditioning for the roles of Beowulf, Grendel/Grendel's mother, or Wiglaf.
