The Inexplicable Pastrana
6157 N. Clark St Chicago
Follow a 19th-century "bearded lady" on her unparalleled journey from her roots in a Mexican tribe to a career as an international circus performer in The Inexplicable Pastrana. Loosely based on the life of Julia Pastrana, this world-premiere work by Mexican writer Raul Dorantes is a bilingual play presented in Spanish and English (with a dash of Russian and some gibberish tossed in). Dance, movement and audio-visual elements are heavily integrated into this production from visiting company Colectivo El Pozo.
