"...Andrew's prim and polished fiancee, doesn't show up until act two, when Andrew reveals he's in love with Georgie—though for all I could tell, no one here seems to love anyone else. Edward (Charles Askenaizer) is a narcissistic lawyer who's threatened to rape Georgie, a situation that becomes something of the play’s moral center, yet really goes nowhere beyond an initial provocation. There is smart acting on display; in particular by the two women, whom I look forward to seeing in a more worthy production."

"...The cast is uniformly strong and bring their characters to life quite nicely, despite the stereotypes they are forced to play given Rebeck's script. Jillian Weingart as Georgie, has all the slithering sex appeal necessary for her role she just needed to also bring a softer side as well. I understand how the men in the show are attracted to her physical attributes, but for a well-educated, worldly guy like Andrew (the solid, Jesse Dornan) to be in love with Georgie, we just needed to see the side he was in love with. Is he simply a teacher in love with his own accomplishments or is he actually in love with his pupil (think Educating Rita)?"

"...When I saw that The Brown Paper Box Co. was bringing a Theresa Rebeck play to the stage at The Raven Theatre Complex, I felt a tinge of excitement. I was one of those who loved her television show, "Smashed" and was upset when it was not renewed for another season, wanting to know if "Marilyn, The Musical" could or would ever make it to the real stage. Well, today, I witnessed the play that Rebeck wrote, "Spike Heels", which in itself would cause one to purchase a ticket, for one reason or another. Those of you into "heels" know what I am referencing. This four character play, directed by Stephanie Rohr is a bit over the top and far too lengthy."
