"...Playwright Greg Moss’s story is an admittedly odd duck, veering from conventional broad camp silliness to LARPy adventure drama to something more abstract. In a memorable one-off scene, Tyler Anthony Smith plays a boy projecting the Gay Flame to illuminate and manipulate doting, faceless forms. It’s wistful and weird and poetically alludes to the lenses through which queer people examine their own relationships. Even artistic director David Cerda, here in rare drag king form, feels like he’s pushing himself outside his comfort zone a bit, at one point essentially performing Hamlet Act III, scene iii while wearing a bedazzled Prince Albert-studded codpiece."

Still going strong, even after the pandemic closed so many theaters, the company continues their 21st season of plays and musicals geared toward the LGBT+ community with this hilarious, gay sci fi extravaganza. The Windy City premiere of this glittery, tantalizing two-act tale of closeted extraterrestrials was written by Greg Moss and Pig Iron. It was originally conceived by Pig Iron Theatre Company, an interdisciplinary ensemble, “dedicated to the creation of new and exuberant performances that defy easy categorization.” And now, after its highly lauded appearance at the Humana Festival, Chicago audiences can enjoy Tim’s gay adventures lost in space."

Playing in the Chopin Theater's downstairs space, the two rows of horizontal seating maximize the amount of room for head-turning action. (Get there early, grab a middle seat and avoid a stiff neck.)"
