The White Road Reviews
Chicago Sun Times- Highly Recommended
"...That is the subject of Karen Tarjan's thrilling play, "The White Road," now receiving a wonderfully vivid, powerfully physical, often blackly comic world premiere by Irish Theatre of Chicago - a production that features ingenious direction by Robert Kauzlaric, prize-worthy design, and a cast of 10 actors who instantly make you believe they could have been among Shackleton's original recruits."

"...Tarjen's narrative, based as it is on a single line of development-i.e., Do they survive the journey or don't they?-is not without its occasional muddy moments ( the recovery missions need to be launched much more promptly, for example ), but there's no denying the visceral exhilaration of a classic man-against-nature yarn. There's the humbling factor, too-whatever your rueful memories of this last winter in our city, at least you didn't have to shoot your beloved Fido."

"...Once you see this fine show, you’ll be amazed how the crew all survived over two years of hardship. For something theatrically ambitious that stimulates our imaginations, The White Road delivers the enduring journey of this group of explorers as they try to conquer one of the last unexplored places on earth. This ensemble work is first class!"

"...The White Road is an incredible tale of strength, and manages to be quite uplifting near the end, without getting too sappy as some tales of triumph do."
Chicago Theatre Review- Highly Recommended
"...This is a very special production you won’t want to miss. I have a feeling it will get a bit shorter and more efficient. (the second act is tad too long) The show is smart and beautiful. This ensemble is very impressive on stage. It is a journey you will not find too often in theater. They pull off a difficult piece; and like Shackleton, I applaud their courage."

"...Although the Endurance expedition is an amazing feat, THE WHITE ROAD is merely interesting. It certainly peaked my curiosity to read more on the subject. But mostly the show made me want to know more about the motivations and spirits of these pioneering men. Who were these men before-during-and-after the shipwreck? I got a glimpse inside the ship and I wanted to see more of it, up close and personal."
