The Velveteen Rabbit Reviews
Around The Town Chicago- Highly Recommended
"...When it comes to theater for children, Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, with its sterling Theatre for Young Audiences , offers amazing musicals. I feel that because of the production values they generate, these youngsters will grow up with a love of theater. I see it in my own grandchildren who have been attending since they were three ( the age that I suggest is perfect for almost every show they have done). As it turned out, today was not a grandkids day as Sarah and Rebecca are in Wisconsin (with mom and dad, of course) picking up their brother Adam. So, this being the case, and knowing that my readers expect a “kids eye view” in my review, I asked a young lady sitting near me to assist me. Cora is from Houston ,Texas, visiting her local family. She is 8 years old, so one could say, she is filling in perfectly for Sarah. Before I get to her reaction, let me tell you about the production."

"...At only an hour in length, including a brief, informative talkback with the cast, this sweet children's musical is a tad more serious than most shows aimed at juvenile audiences. However, it's an entertaining and heartwarming play that will charm young and old alike. Featuring topnotch talent, inventive costumes and an excellent live band, this wonderful production, directed and choreographed by Amanda Tanguay, is a cool summer treat for audiences of all ages."

"...The company's current production of The Velveteen Rabbit is an ideal outing for young people, probably best suited for those over age five, to see a one-hour performance of a classic story. Since this theater is in the round and isn't more than 10 rows deep on any side, every seat is a good one. Young audiences' productions are cast with the same professionals found in the mainstage adult shows, and the actors also complete the children's performances with a 10-minute question-and-nswer session to give children a chance to learn more about the theater and what it takes to put on a show."
