A rarely produced 20th-century opera gets a sparkling new production as The Medium and its tale of a phony spiritualist's supernatural comeuppance come to Royal George Theatre. Madame Flora conducts seances in her flat with the help of her daughter and a deaf-mute orphan boy she's taken in. She's a con artist who scams her clients by making them believe they are communing with the spirits of their dead children. But one day, Madame Flora really does open up the portal to the other side, and finds herself paying for her misdeeds in a maelstrom of terror and tragic violence.
