"...Under director Justin Baldwin, all performances are on-the-money in a simple in-the-round staging. They enhance the distinct temperament and narrative voice Casella gives each character in his skillfully written text. The dialect work-especially O'Callaghan's New York cop and Bisto's Irish-born lad-is very good. The play occasionally is too raucous for the room's hard acoustics and clarity is lost. A little less volume would make these funny moments more effective."

"...Altogether, this little show packs a decent sized wallop. But hey, Level 11 Theatre, don't think because you've won over one feminist reviewer that this lets you off the hook. "The Irish Curse" still administers a heaping dose of what Chicago theater already has plenty of: the white male perspective. No matter what, I'll always advocate for more plays and roles for women and people of color."

"...I have to say, I walked away confused more than anything. The tagline for the play is “Five guys. One tiny problem.” That’s basically a sitcom tagline and this show ends up feeling almost as shallow. The script and production both lack any dramatic tension to pull the audience along, so flare-ups overstuffed with bravado are interspersed to try to keep everyone interested. It’s a cute play that has some funny moments because, who doesn’t enjoy the occasional dick joke? But Casella shows that there is more to this than what is on the surface. This production just never manages to dig deep enough."
