Prelude to a Kiss Reviews

"...Sadly, director Derek Bertelsen fills his revival with a bunch of loud, laugh-hungry actors who rip the heart out of the play (but still fail to get laughs). Only Bethany Hart seems at home as the possessed bride-and her finesse makes everyone else in this Comrades production seem that much more cloddish."

"...The swift pacing and the constant moving of the stage boxes and the too strong pushing of the comic elements quickly became irritating. The subtle reference to the AIDS crisis got lost since it is now 2017 so the fantasy here comes off as dated and strange. This uneven production tried too hard to eek humor. The material is dated and the performances are spotty. I’d pass on this one."
Chicago Theatre Review- Somewhat Recommended
"...In a much-welcome production of a play that deals with heartbreak, love and tenderness, there’s far too much pizzazz and pep here. It’s as if this beautiful play, set in 1990, is simply another loud TV sitcom that’s been transferred to the stage to be presented live for theatre audiences. It misses the mark. Welcome to TV Land."
