"...As the performance element begins, characters appear from within the crowd to talk about how the inferno has affected their lives: A woman reads a poetic ode to her boyfriend, who's outside in the fire; a man describes losing his family and home in the devastation. When the lights go out, audience members are asked to lighten the mood by contributing jokes (which veered increasingly off-color the night I attended), but the laughs don't balance the awkward silences. The piece closes with a return to the dance-party atmosphere, ending with plenty of energy but not much of anything else."
