3 Play Fest

In an effort to find the right show, Circle Theatre, located at 7300 West Madison Street in  Forest Park, is presenting a 3 night series of staged readings, all of which have the potential to be part of the Circle's 2009-2010 season. Audience members of the staged readings will help Circle Theatre choose its next season with their reaction and discussions after each reading. Plus this gives audience members the opportunity to be the first to hear three great works.

The three readings include:

The Naked Show
by Amy Binns-Calvey, directed by Chris Arnold
Thursday, February 19 at 7:30pm
When working in a collaborative environment, who owns the art?  And how much of yourself do you expose for the sake of your craft? Big Nuts Theater Company is in trouble and is about to close.   In an effort to forestall the Board, the ensemble decides to stage an all nude version of Our Town.  The actors struggle with baring themselves and Big Nuts Company starts to come apart at the seams as they fight over artistic control.

Ratkillers by E. Eugene Baldwin, directed by Brian Rabinowitz
Friday, February 20 at 7:30pm
Welcome to the dilapidated Starboard Room Restaurant in downstate Alton, Illinois, where proprietor and resident loudmouth Glenn Miller and his philosophical cook Joe G. engage in a daily battle of wits, wills, and salty put-downs.  Into the mix comes hapless would-be ladies man One-Date Dave,  crazed Country singer wannabee Mary Pat Elizabeth Margaret Carolyn Maureen O’Reilly, Joe's loving wife - biker chick and Jesus freak Chelsea G., a couple of local gangsters, and a basement full of rats.  Add a box of firearms, a faulty fusebox, and an insane scheme for pest extermination, and the result is a profanely funny comic explosion.  Most definitely intended for adults!

The Analytical Engine by Jon Steinhagen, directed by Bob Knuth
Saturday, February 21 at 7:30pm
In 1850 Connecticut, Hippolyta Powell has actually built the world's first computer, an analytical engine.  Rather than use the machine to solve complex mathematical equations, she has used it to find her "perfect match," much to the consternation of her family, the chosen suitor, Lord Byron's daughter, and the man who truly loves her.

Tickets are available for a suggested donation of only $5. Each reading will be followed by a discussion with the playwright and cast. For further information visit www.circle-theatre.org or call 708-771-0700.
