Wicked in Chicago

Wicked enthusiasts looking to make their night on the town very Ozmopolitan are invited to dine with cast members on Wednesday, October 29 and November 5, 2008. For $30, in addition to the price of a ticket, fans and cast members will dine prior to the show at 5:30 p.m. at Hotel Monaco (225 N. Wabash Ave.), followed by a 7:30 performance of Wicked at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph St.).

The pre-show dinner option is available for $30 in addition to the price of a ticket for Wicked shows on Wednesday, October 29 and November 5, 2008. The Chicago Company of Wicked is now playing at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre. Breaking multiple box office records since opening in June 2005 and playing to packed audiences from across the world night after night, the production is the top grossing show in Chicago theatre history. After more than three years of being on stage, the Chicago Company will take its final bow on Sunday, January 25, 2009.


Mame Up for Bid at Victory Gardens' 27th Casting Auction Party

Have you ever dreamed of being on stage? Do you sing in the shower, dance around your living room, and all that jazz?

If you're a die-hard fan of classic American musicals, then grab your checkbook and a few supportive friends and buy your way to stardom at Victory Gardens Theater's 27th Annual Casting Auction, Saturday, November 15 at 6 pm at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue,Chicago.

This year, Mame is the classic musical up for bid, with more than 50 starring and supporting roles on sale to the highest bidders.

The party begins at 6 pm with a silent auction for supporting roles, a delectable pre-auction buffet catered by J&L Catering, and an open bar with signature cocktails and wine provided by Smoking Loon.

At 7 pm, the party moves into the Victory Gardens Biograph mainstage for a live medley of favorite musical numbers performed by top professional actors.  After the revue, celebrity auctioneer Aaron Freeman will tease the live bidding for the most coveted lead characters, including Mame Dennis, Vera Charles, Agnes Gooch, Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside, and Patrick.

Elvis Is In The Building!

Ever dream of being Elvis for the day?  From November 1 through December 6, The Marriott Theatre invites all Chicagoans to show their love for the King of Rock 'n Roll by wearing their Blue Suede Shoes, sequins and leisure suits to the hit musical All Shook Up.  Any theatergoer dressed as Elvis will receive a certificate to redeem for two free tickets to a Marriott production of their choice in 2009 (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The 25th Annual  Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Light in Piazza, Hairspray, or My Fair Lady).  To obtain their certificate, costumed "Elvises" should visit the box office 30 minutes prior to the show.  All Shook Up runs through December 6 at the Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive.  

All Shook Up, a modern Rock ‘n Roll version of Shakespeare's romantic comedy Twelfth Night, is set in a conservative Midwestern town in the summer of 1955. Chad, a motorcycle ridin', rovin' roustabout pulls into town. Natalie, a mechanic at a local gas station, falls madly in love with him and hopes to hit the open road to "Follow that Dream," but the mayor of the town believes he's the "Devil in Disguise," and looks to put a stop to his rock ‘n roll. Audiences of all ages just "Can't Help Falling in Love" with this hot-rod musical which took Broadway by storm.  A feel-good story of how a soulful young roustabout helps a whole town find love and discover the magic of rock ‘n roll, All Shook Up is a thrilling new musical extravaganza.
