My Dinner With Divine Reviews
Chicago Reader- Somewhat Recommended
"...The premise is kind of funny, but the script never goes far enough into Waters-level depravity-except, of course, when Gleason lifts gags directly from Pink Flamingos. Sean Ewert makes an entertainingly catty Waters, but Marty Grubbs's Divine is way too hoity-toity."
Chicago Stage and Screen- Recommended
"...This late night, BYOB affair at the Chicago Mammals' Ravenswood space is a fun, light, and fabulous 45 minute show. You laugh so hard and have such a good time that it feels like it's over before it's begun. John Waters (Sean Ewert), the famously campy (and smutty) film director is stunned when his muse returns. Divine (Marty Grubbs), was presumed dead, but has returned to reclaim her title as "the filthiest person alive". We watch her wrestle for that title with the villainous Connie Marble (Erin Orr), and with John as she tries to make him see her as a serious actress. Or actor. Grubbs does some hilarious Willy Loman bits in an attempt to move John."
