Hello and Goodbye Reviews

"...As befits a play that unfolds in the middle of the night, Luda Lopatina Solomon's staging for Bluebird Arts communicates a hushed urgency as well as a hint of menace. Aaron Lawson's Johnny remains a little vague throughout, but as the tightly wound Hester, Jaimelyn Gray gives a thrilling performance combining swagger, self-pity, sorrow, and raw desperation."

"...The direction by Luda Lopatina Solomon leaves something to be desired. Moments of Johnny asking his sister to quiet down when he is, in fact, the louder one begs for justification from either the script or the director. In this case of a finalized, well produced script, I have to wonder why the multiple moments like this as well as moments of telegraphing secrets weren't addressed further. However, Solomon takes Ulaszek's lighting and simple set with the sound design of Brandon Reed and Rick Sims to craft deeply moving moments that keep the play from falling into a world of complete monotony."
