Cowboy Versus Samurai
1329-1333 N. Milwaukee Chicago
Race replaces a famously enormous nose in this funny and moving re-imagining of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac. Cowboy Versus Samurai centers around Travis Park, a high school English teacher who is one of only two Asian Americans in a small Wyoming town. His world is thrown for a loop when a beautiful, smart Asian American woman moves to town. Travis secretly falls for her only to discover that she dates only white men, including his dim-witted cowboy friend. Meanwhile, a crazily righteous Asian American pal seeks Travis' help on a quest to fully embrace their Asian heritage. Travis must ultimately choose between his American and his Asian identity-between the cowboy and the samurai-within himself.
