Bronzeville the Musical explores the rich history of African-Americans as they journeyed to Chicago in the early 20th century. This thought-provoking story is filled with testimonials, laughter, tears and voices of great courage, all conveying the experiences of those who took part in the "Great Migration." The Chicago Theatre production features vibrant choreography, soulful voices and spell-binding performances delivered by the city's own community actors. Hear an original score paying homage to hometown legends such as Robert Abbot, founder of the Chicago Defender, Lorraine Hansberry, the award-winning playwright and activist who penned A Raisin in the Sun, as well as the famed Lindy Hoppers, who danced their hearts out at the Savoy Ballroom. Bronzeville ties in jazz, blues and gospel tunes and features community artists and musical guests like the Mahdi Theatre Company's Jazz Orchestra.
