Bechdel Fest 2

Bechdel Fest 2

A single cartoon by 2014 MacArthur "genius grant" winner Alison Bechdel spawned what's come to be known as the Bechdel Test, a cultural rubric used to highlight gender disparity in a work of fiction by asking three questions: Does it feature at least two women? Do they talk to each other? And, if so, do they talk about anything other than the men around them? In response to the astounding number of films and plays that fall short of these three questions, Broken Nose Theatre presents its second annual Bechdel Fest, a short play festival showcasing nine works with all-female casts, predominantly written and directed by women -- all of which pass the Bechdel Test.
