Chicago Theatre Marathon
The Lizards

Pay: No Pay

Description:

Seeking collaborators for an original performance created for the inaugural Chicago Theatre Marathon. THE LIZARDS is a queer fever dream about gay assimilation, sexual possibility, and daddy bears. Adapted from an original play by CJ Byrd, the piece will be devised by a group of 4 for a one-time performance to close the Marathon. Opportunity exists to "revive" this piece and create new shows as an ensemble in the future.

Especially seeking gay/queer/trans/gnc performers. Actors of all races, ethnicities, and abilities are encouraged to submit. Movement experience (esp. burlesque/gogo/"weird" dance) is a plus.

Seeking:

MARIO, male-identified. 20-25 or 40-55. Tender, beleaguered, easily distracted. A wannabe glitterbear. Partner to JOEY (role is cast). Performs a climactic Bowie lip-sync. Comfort with nudity is a plus.

FERN, female-identified, gnc, or on the feminine spectrum. 20-30. Sardonic, wise, fallible. A lesbian avenger/ghost. Partners-in-mischief with PIGGIE (role is cast). Some abbreviated costume (queer gogoing) is possible though not expected.

Time Commitment:

4-10 rehearsals between June 22-July 23; tech for 2 hours between Sat Jul 15-Thurs Jul 20; one performance Sunday Jul 23 at 9pm. Rehearsals will start ASAP.
