Rough House Theater Company is welcoming submissions for auditions for its upcoming production, Cicada Summer: A Coming-of-Age Interspecies Romance Tragedy.

The show will premier on tour at a residency at Open Eye in Minneapolis, MN in mid August, and will run for five weeks at Chicago's Chopin Theater, Aug 31 - Oct 1.

CICADA SUMMER
In a bleak pocket of the urban midwest, a 13 year old falls in love with a bug. Tangled in adolescent passion, the t(w)een stumbles treacherously along the journey to independence, the hunt for intimacy, and the struggle to make sense of the mess that comes with change.

Cicada Summer will be a partially devised piece and the development process will continue through the early stages of rehearsal. The piece will heavily involve the use of puppetry, movement, and sound.

Rough House welcomes performers of all backgrounds and gender identities. We are seeking artists with interest and/or experience in physical theater, movement, devised performance, and puppetry.

We will be casting 4 - 5 actor/puppeteer/movement-ensemble performers - folks interested in being part of a devised process and getting down and dirty with some puppets. No prior puppetry experience required.

Stipend: $400 + food, lodging and travel expenses for Minneapolis residency

Auditions will be held at Columbia College Chicago (exact location TBA)
