Dance for Beginners

Description:

Piven Theatre Workshop is seeking AEA and non-equity actors for their production of DANCE FOR BEGINNERS. Please send in all submissions to Casting Director, Eleanor Axt by December 29th.

SYNOPSIS: Jenni and Jerry are self-sufficient loners whose long-distance love connection threatens to stagnate at the ocean that separates them. When a dance competition in Blackpool, England becomes a chance to finally meet, the two must learn the basics of dance, and the first steps of love.

SEEKING: JERRY (male identifying actor), an American living in Sydney, Australia. Recently retired, never married, considers himself older than most people (over 50).

JENNI (female identifying actor), a native of Chicago, Illinois. Librarian, divorced, considers herself older than most people (over 50, anywhere up to 80-ish).

DANTE (male identifying actor), inhabits the world of dance. He's all about connection, and considers himself exactly the right age (probably 30s or 40s). He sometimes tinkers with different accents; a few are indicated in the dialog, but the actor is invited to experiment with this.
