The Right Brain Project
Electra Garrigó

Pay: Stipend

Description:

The Right Brain Project announces auditions for the national premiere of ELECTRA GARRIGO by Cuban playwright, Virgilio Piñera, directed by Kathi Kaity. The Right Brain Project is committed to staging epic plays in intimate spaces, challenging our artists to create dynamic, inclusive, and innately political work. Actors, slam poets, dancers, rappers, musicians, etc. of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and physical abilities are encouraged to submit. It is our goal to populate the world of this play with the most inclusive and diverse cast as possible. Bilingual speakers fluent in Spanish are highly encouraged to submit. Actors will be paid a stipend.

ABOUT THE PLAY:
A king with more hubris than know-how. A working class fed up with the status quo. A woman destined to take back the kingdom. Pinera's ELECTRA GARRIGÓ served as a harsh criticism of Cuba's pre-revolutionary politics, through the lens of a re-imagined Greek tragedy. Both philosophy and farce, ELECTRA GARRIGÓ spins a complex argument begging the question: who should have the power to lead?

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals begin January 2017
Performances Run March 16th-April 15th 2017

Material To Prepare:
