THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD
By Oliver Emanuel
Directed by Omen Sade

Rehearsals Begin: November 30, 2016 (No Rehearsals 12/22-1/02) Tech begins: January 7, 2017

Opening: January 21

Closing: March 19 (possible extension through 4/9)
Actors should expect to be available on occasional weekdays, scheduled in advance, for field trip performances.

It's a tale that's been told a thousand times - although never quite like this. Filament is seeking two actors who delight in highly physical storytelling, playing dozens of distinct characters, who can slip like shadows, transform in the blink of an eye, fight, doubt, and love. Must be very comfortable with direct address. A strong background in acrobatics, physical theater, and/or stage combat is a plus. Callbacks for The Adventures of Robin Hood will be held on October 28 and 29.
Each actor plays multiple characters throughout the piece. Some of the primary characters include:
Robin Hood- "An outlaw... Great at disguising himself. Oh and he has excellent hair... He's not very good at sharing, and he often says stupid things that get him into trouble."
The Sheriff of Nottingham- "The Sheriff is the most hated man in the county. His best friend is a wolf. Some folk say that the Sheriff and the wolf were born on the same day and raised by the wolf's mother. No one knows if this is true but they have the same pointed teeth, the same sneer."
John Little - "A giant." An outlaw with great love and compassion for people and their suffering. Also, he can break your head with a staff. Marion- "Bold and fearless." She punches Robin in the mouth at their first encounter. A leader of her people. She inspires Robin Hood to lead a fight against the Sheriff. Not your grandmother's "Maid Marion"

INSPIRE: A New Play for Very Young Audiences

By Jack Novak

Rehearsals Begin: June 1, 2017

Tech begins: July 1 (No rehearsal on July 4)
Opening: July 12
Closing: August 19

Performances are Wednesday-Saturday mornings at 10am
This interactive play for 2-5 year olds explores the ingredients of creativity, and asks what it really means to be an artist. Filament is seeking three dynamic performers who are excited about direct address, new play development, chaos, and very young audience members. Teaching artist experience is a plus. Callbacks for Inspire will be held November 13. Leo - an artist in the vein of Leonardo da Vinci. Measured and precise.
Jack - an artist in the vein Jackson Pollock. Impulsive and freewheeling.
Kaz - named for Kazimir Malevich. Our audience proxy. A blank slate, curious, tentative, enthusiastic.
