Description:

We're looking for new faces for our next season, which begins with THE EPIC OF GILGAMESH AS TOLD BY MR. GEORGE SMITH, ASSOCIATE CURATOR FOR THE BRITISH MUSEUM (DECEASED) by Gregory Peters, directed by Jack Dugan Carpenter, playing in October at Berger Park Coach House. The stories of Gilgamesh, ancient King of Uruk, hero of the oldest epic known to humanity; and George Smith, working-class Victorian, who first discovered and translated the epic, are woven together in this mix of the fabulous and the mundane: ancient Sumerians, reserved Victorians, giant scorpions, archaeological gamesmanship, mythical monsters, museum politics, disgruntled gods, language barriers, and the Great Flood.

The second project, currently called CIRCLE PLAY, is a group-written work put together by Jessica Wright Buha and directed by Kate Nawrocki that will play in April at Berger Park's North Mansion. This environmental piece examines the rhythms of birth and death: how we find meaning in life when death is inevitable, how life persists and regenerates, the trials of growing up, and the cyclical nature of the world.

Auditions will be held at About Face Theatre, 5252 N Broadway

Time Commitment:

GILGAMESH will begin rehearsals August 22nd, load in September 26th, open October 8th, and close October 29th.
