Over the Tavern

Pay: No Pay

Description:

Over the Tavern is a warm and hilarious look at family, growing up and faith in the 1950s. 12-year-old Rudy Pazinski is a smart, wise-cracking kid who's starting to question family rules and the Roman Catholic Church. When Rudy goes up against the ruler-wielding Sister Clarissa and announces that instead of being confirmed he'd rather shop around for a more "fun" religion, all hell breaks loose. "Over the Tavern" will be directed by Jeff Pripusich. Cara Schuster will serve as assistant director.

Casting 1 man (40s - early 50s), 2 Women (40s - early 60s), 3 boys (12 - 17) and 1 girl (15 - 17)

Character Descriptions:

Rudy - A bright and curious teenager with an active imagination, Rudy appears to be asking all the "wrong" questions-causing everyone loads of trouble. Age range 12 - 14.

Chet - Head of the Pazinski household, hard-working and honest Chet is a physically and psychologically wounded man. Frustrated at trying to make ends meet, he often puts himself at a distance from the ones he loves. Age range late 40s - early 50s.

Ellen - As the long-suffering wife of Chet, Ellen is the glue that struggles to hold her family together. Between Chet and the kids, she sure has her work cut out for her! Age range 40s - early 50s.

Sister Clarissa - Like any good nun, she has a steady (and strong!) hand for disciplining young soldiers for Christ, but she's also achingly human in her flaws and feelings. Age range 50s - 60s.

Georgie - He may be cognitively disabled, but Georgie possesses a jubilant spirit and an enthusiasm for each of his family members. Be careful what you say around him, though. He's a little sponge who soaks up everything. Age range 13 - 15.
