The Butler Did It

Pay: No Pay

Description:

Trying to rehearse a show where all of the characters are named Butler is difficult enough. But when the director decides to experiment by staging the "death" of an actress, the line between fact and fiction becomes blurred in this hilarious whodunit filled with many outrageous twists and turns. Rated PG

Casting 4 Men (late 20s - 60s) and 2 Women (20s - 50s)

Character Descriptions:

Raymond Butler (also Robert) - Raymond Butler is the reserved grand patriarch of the Butler Family. Robert is the actor who plays him; Robert is formal, correct, yet sensitive. Robert was previously a very successful actor on TV but has not had a real success for a while. Age range 50s - 60s

Aldo, The Butler (also Michael) - Aldo is the formal butler for the Butler Family. Michael is a young man with some talent on stage, but more of a talent for keeping to Equity rules. Victoria Butler (also Claudia) - Victoria Butler is the blithe young daughter of Raymond Butler, who is not quite fond of her step mother. Claudia is naïve, innocent and just out of college landing her first acting role in a production by Anthony J. Lefcourt, one of her heroes. Age range 20s - 30s

Anthony J. Lefcourt - Tony is a larger-than-life commanding figure with indomitable energy and grace under pressure. Director and playwright of the production, he is desperate to get back to the top of the theatre world, Tony will resort to any means to achieve his goal. Age range 40s - 60s

Detective Mumford (also Sam) - Sam is an actor playing a detective who dupes the cast. As an actor he is focused, serious and strives for accuracy in the work being done around him.
