The Prom

Pay: No Pay

Description:

UAC and The Hemmens Cultural Center are excited to announce that they will continue their partnership to present the 2024 summer production of The Prom.

The Prom tells the story of an Indiana high schooler barred from bringing her girlfriend to the prom. When Emma's story pops up on Twitter, four Broadway performers descend upon her small Indiana town in an earnest, but misguided attempt to fight the injustice. Determined to transform lives and put themselves back in the limelight, the Broadway celebrities muscle in to change the town and give Emma the prom she deserves. The Prom expertly captures all the humor and heart of a classic musical comedy with a message that resonates with audiences now more than ever.

In keeping with the show's intended cast, we are seeking a cast of all ethnicities, identities, and genders. Auditions are open to the public and will be held May 15 & 16, 2024, at The Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin. Callbacks will be by invitation only. All those auditioning should wear comfortable clothing and shoes for the dance portion and prepare to sing 16 to 32 bars of a song that best highlights their vocal ability. An accompanist will be provided, so auditionees must bring sheet music in the key they will be singing. Singing acapella is not encouraged.
