Shakespeare In The Park: A Bit O' The Bard

Description:

WSP is looking to cast a wide-range of outrageous characters (ages 16 and up) to form a Shakespearean troupe or ensemble. Troupe members may be asked to dance and/or move well, and play multiple roles in a variety of Shakespeare scenes. Previous knowledge or experience performing Shakespeare's works is preferred but not required.

SHAKESPEARE IN THE SQUARE - A BIT O' THE BARD will feature scenes, songs, puppetry and dance, along with some stage combat and a whole lot of fun celebrating the works of William Shakespeare and some Shakespeare-inspired material as well.

AUDITION DATES:
Monday, April 22 at 7:00pm to 8:45pm
Tuesday, April 23 at 7:00pm to 8:45pm
Location: Woodstock Opera House, 121 W Van Buren St, Woodstock
-Use the side door of the Opera House on Dean Street
-Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time to allow time for check-in.

CALLBACKS will be invite only and will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 7:00pm at the Woodstock Opera House

Time Commitment:

REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals will be scheduled by the individual directors for each scene. The rehearsal period extends from the end of April through the end of May and may include weekday evenings and some Sunday afternoons.

There will be one technical rehearsal prior to the June 1st performance and a pick-up rehearsal before each of the July 6th and August 3rd performances.

Tech and Pick-up rehearsal dates: TBA

PERFORMANCES:
SHAKESPEARE IN THE SQUARE - A BIT O' THE BARD will be held outdoors in the historic Woodstock Square gazebo park.

There will be 3 outdoor matinee performances on the first Saturday of each month.
Sat, June 1st
Sat, July 6th
Sat, August 3rd

Performances will be at 2:00pm (with a 12:30pm call time)
(These are free public performances in the park.)

Material To Prepare:

One-minute monologues (Comedic and Dramatic) are available HERE

Please choose one comedic and one other non-comedic monologue from this list to perform at auditions.

Monologues should be rehearsed and prepared, but they need not be memorized.

If you are interested in being included in our choreographed dance number, please come prepared to dance. You will be taught a short choreographed routine.

Bring your resume and headshot (if you have one) along with your list of conflicts to your audition.
