Metropolis PAC is seeking submissions for the Johnny Cash understudy for Million Dollar Quartet, by Colin Escott and
Floyd Mutrux. Million Dollar Quartet will be directed by Michael Rader, Director (he/him). Artistic Director is Brendan
Ragan (he/him). Seeking adult non-Equity musicians/ singers/ actors. All identities, races, and ethnicities are strongly
encouraged to audition

Million Dollar Quartet Show Description
Million Dollar Quartet is set on December 4, 1956, when an extraordinary twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee
Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam
sessions ever. Million Dollar Quartet brings that legendary December night to life with an irresistible tale of broken
promises, secrets, betrayal, and celebrations that are both poignant and funny. Relive the era with the smash-hit
sensation featuring an incredible score of rock 'n' roll, gospel, R&B, and country hits, performed live onstage. Showcased
hit songs include "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "Walk the Line," "Sixteen Tons," "Who Do You Love?," "Great Balls of
Fire," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," "Hound Dog," and more.
Million Dollar Quartet Casting Breakdown:
Johnny Cash: (Late 20s-40s, Male-Identifying) singer/guitar player. This is Johnny Cash at the dawn of his epic career.
Tall. In the production, Johnny Cash sings "Folsom Prison Blues," "Sixteen Tons," "I Walk The Line," and "Riders In The
Sky." Must be familiar with his music. Actors should sound and look somewhat like Johnny without being an
"impersonator." To submit, please send a video of you accompanying yourself on guitar to "Folsom Prison Blues," "I
Walk The Line," or any other Cash song of your choosing.
Please note that we are asking about your conflicts for a wider range of
availability than may actually be used for rehearsals.
Rehearsals - Tue 6/4-Sun 6/30/24: Weekly rehearsals will be chosen from the following times: 6-10pm Tuesdays-
Fridays and 10am-6pm Saturdays & Sundays. Please note that rehearsal on Sunday 6/30 will be 2-8pm. Mondays will be
the designated day off each week. There will be one Understudy rehearsal on Tuesday 7/16, 6-11pm.
Tech Rehearsals - Tue 7/2-Thu 7/11/24. Schedule is as follows: Tue 7/2-Wed 7/3, 5-11pm; Fri 7/5, 5-11pm; Sat 7/6, 1-
10:30pm; Sun 7/7, 12-5pm & 6-11pm; Tue 7/9-Wed 7/10, 6-11pm; Thu 7/11, 4-6pm. No rehearsal on Thu 7/4.
Previews & Performances - Thu 7/11-Sun 8/4/24. Standard matinee schedule includes 7:30pm shows on Thu, Fri, &
Sat; 3pm matinees on Sat & Sun; 2pm matinee on Thu 7/25; no 3pm matinee on Sat 8/3.
Please prepare a self-tape audition submission which includes the following:

- Include a slate with your name, pronouns, height, and the role you are submitting for. Please confirm in the slate
that you have local Chicago/ Arlington Heights housing.

- The self-tape should be in a shareable format, such as an Unlisted YouTube link.
- Self-tapes are accepted until role is filled.
