Description:

Casting "Garters," a play by Natalie Zutter. Synopsis: Once, two girls disguised themselves as boys to train to become knights. Seven years later, an unconventional knight and a worldly whore fallen on hard times meet at a brothel in the middle of nowhere and embark on an epic quest. Inspired by the works of Tamora Pierce and Jacqueline Carey, "Garters" is an epic fantasy play about the limited roles available to women and nonbinary folks in quest stories, and what happens when they don't get to be the hero but don't want to be the damsel.

Sir Yvain - Nonbinary (AFAB), 20s-30s - Loyal Knight of the Realm, Childhood friend of Hedy

Hedy - Female, 20s-30s - A cunning Courtesan-Spy, former Knight-in-Training. (There will be on-stage nudity)

Varic - Male, 20s-30s - An anxious soon-to-be King

Lady Clotilda - female, 30-40s, she/her - Legendary lady knight, a healer of myth and a hero of old. Hedy and Yvain worship her.

Lady Dagomar - female 40s-50s - Prince Varic's scheming, manipulative aunt and Hedy's patron. And many of other inhabitants of this medieval realm

Garters contains simulated sexual situations, fight scenes, and partial nudity on stage. This will all be facilitated safely with an Intimacy Director and Fight Choreographer.

Pay: $500 stipend

Otherworld Theatre is a Science Fiction and Fantasy Theatre based in Chicago. Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be located in our space at 3914 N. Clark Street.
