"...The play -- a combination memoir and civics lesson -- opens with fortysomething actor/writer Heidi Schreck (Goodrich) describing how, at age 15, she earned college tuition traveling around the country competing in American Legion-sponsored oratory contests. Goodrich then shifts to Heidi's teenage self to re-create the winning speech, which compares the Constitution to a witch's cauldron from which "something that is sometimes magic" emerges."

"...Those of you who read my reviews and listen to me on the radio know that I truly feel that seeing a play more than once is nothing out of the ordinary and unlike seeing a film, a live play is never the same, so in reality, you are NOT seeing the same play, only the same title!. Not long ago, we were at Timeline Theatre in Chicago for their production of "What The Constitution Means To Me", Heidi Schreck's story of her teen years as a debater. While that was a brilliant production and of course, since it was Timeline, the backstory was on the walls in the lobby, I think the current production on stage at Paramount Theatre's Copley Theatre, may have a few added touches that modernize and illustrate some depth in the meaning."

"...Heidi Schreck calls the Constitution a "warm-blooded, steamy document that's hot and sweaty." What she means is that the Constitution is a living, breathing work that's continually being analyzed, re-evaluated and changed. The Amendment process allows for periodic updates of the document, which is one of our Constitution's greatest strengths. And, as this play argues, despite it's shortcomings in dealing with the equality of women, persons of color, immigrants and the LGBT community, the United States Constitution is the basic framework of our nation. For all of its shortcomings, it must respected for all its inherent good."
