Vincent River

Vincent River

Lacuna Lofts
2150 S. Canalport Chicago

The sole contemporary text in Theatre Y's Exiled trilogy, Ridley's "Vincent River" flays modern homophobia to expose an insidious core, around which sit its two characters: a mysterious young man and a mother grappling with the death of her gay son. Using a mixture of realism and stylization, this production seeks to explore the true nature of regret--true in the sense of ultimate necessity, true as it may be the only recourse left to these characters as they attempt to negotiate the chasm that separates their image of themselves from the horror of their own deeds.
