Unnecessary Farce Reviews

"...Brainy fare this isn't — but I've come to appreciate just how damnably difficult it can be to get this kind of theatrical souffle to the table without one too many door-slams deflating the entire enterprise. Vesely has picked some of the smartest actors around for this high-spirited goof."

"... It is impossible for me say much more about the events from Unnecessary Farce but just get out to Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oakbrook to see an impressive and hilarious evening of comic farce. Spend two hours laughing at the absurd antics of seven of the funniest comic players expertly delivering Paul SladeSmith wonderful play. You’ll leave the theatre reinvigorated and thoroughly entertained. Kudos to First Folio Theatrefor snagging Unnecessary Farce."

"...What does all this mean? Not sure, though the second half picked up a bit thanks to Officer Billie Dwyer's physical comedy. She is very funny! Personally, I was tired of seeing the heart shaped boxer shorts worn by Officer Sheridan throughout the show and he did not strike me as being a huge nerdy guy afraid to talk to women. It is a twisted series of events that eventually lead to the end and the truth. There was a lot of laughing though, mostly by an older, more mature 65+ crowd, and I believe they found it appealing and very funny. Me? Not so much."

"... While I do not want to give away the surprises and strange twists and turns that Smith has built into this story, I will tell you that you will find each surprise one that will cause laughter to erupt from you ( even the quiet laughers, were laughing out loud) Ms Grennan, by the way is a scene stealer with her zaniness and Foust continues to prove that he can handle anything. If one did not know better, one might think that the playwright had hand-picked this cast to bring his words and story to life. As far as I am concerned, no one can improve on what is on the stage at First Folio, and I myself, who has not gone out to their theater often, will make sure that I do not miss anything they perform in this beautiful theater."
