Trial In The Delta: The Murder Of Emmett Till
Chicago Tribune - Highly Recommended
"...This immersive re-creation (some members of the audience sit in the jury box) was penned from the trial transcript by G. Riley Mills and Willie Round, and it's only a little more than an hour. There was a lot more said in that trial, and the simply staged but impressively acted show, which is co-directed by Anthony Moseley and Dana N. Anderson, makes an excellent case for its own expansion, especially one that added outside-the-courtroom context and emphasized Till-Mobley's actions beyond the trial."

"...The new studio space at Collaboraction is set up in the round, with one section of the seating reserved for “jurors” (I sat in the jury box at the performance I saw) who don’t actually have to answer any questions or otherwise participate. Still, being in that box and seeing the glowering smirks from Tyler Burke’s Bryant and Matt Miles’s Milam was unsettling."

"...Collaboraction Theatre Company could not have chosen a more resonant inaugural production for its new House of Belonging than Trial in the Delta: The Murder of Emmett Till. In this sleek, in-the-round studio in Humboldt Park, the company inaugurates its new home by opening an old wound—one that America has never fully allowed to heal. The result is not merely a staging of history, but an act of communal witnessing, one that insists the past is not past."

"...Taking the real court transcripts from the case of Emmett Till’s murder, Collaboraction shows us what that courtroom would have felt like. They stage the trial in their new theater space bringing the 1950s trial to us and have a cast that deftly handles the heavy emotions that come with."
